Remote Learning Day (March 26th)
The second administration of the Moderna Vaccine to Preble Shawnee staff members is scheduled for Thursday, March 25th. Knowing the second dose produces side effects in some people, we are making Friday, March 26th a Remote Learning Day for all grade levels. We don’t want to be in a situation where we wake up the next morning and have to cancel school due to so many staff members potentially calling off due to illness related to the vaccine. Student work will be assigned in Google Classroom and staff will be available on site to answer questions or assist. Students who do not have access to a device can request a paper copy of the assignment prior to that day. Assignments will be due two weeks from the Remote Learning Day. For those who need internet access, we now have Wi-Fi in the student parking lot behind the Jr/Sr High School. There is also limited access to the Camden Primary staff lot near the main entrance. Spring Break is scheduled for the following week. Students will return on Monday, April 5th.

Levy Failure Consequences
On Thursday, March 11, 2021, the Preble Shawnee Board of Education is expected to pass a resolution detailing specific reductions for the 2021-22 school year if the May 4th Operating Levy is unsuccessful.

The specific reductions include the following:
  • A $400/season Athletic Fee will be implemented for students in grades 7-12 ($1,600 family cap)
  • Busing to and from school for students in grades 9-12 will be eliminated
  • Busing to and from school for students in grades K-8 residing within two miles of the school will also be eliminated

The above is in addition to the $1.3 million dollars in cuts the district has made since March 2020. Even with the reductions listed above, Preble Shawnee Schools will still operate in a deficit for the 2021-22 school year and beyond. The passage of the 5-Year .75% Income Tax on May 4th is critical to the operation of our school district. Without that revenue, the district will be forced to continue to reduce staffing and/or programming which will dramatically impact the education of our students.

The March 11th Board Meeting will be held in the auditorium and will begin at 6:00 p.m. For further information, please visit the district webpage at psarrows.com. For answers to questions, please email the superintendent at [email protected].

Senior Composite...One More Chance
Seniors who still have not had their picture taken for the composite (yearbook and the class picture posted in the lobby of the high school), there is one more opportunity. On March 9th at 3:00 p.m. in the cafeteria while Spring Sports pictures are being taken...seniors can get their picture taken for the senior composite. Use the form below from a previous event.

Preble Shawnee Senior Featured at Art Show
Nevaeh Gayhart was among several area students highlighted at Middletown Art Center's Tomorrow's Artist Today exhibit. Below is a link to the entire show. Nevaeh's artwork is around the 12:00 mark.
The subject of her piece is Kim Taehyung, also known as "V." He is a member of the global music sensation BTS. As fans who have seen BTS twice in concert, our superintendent & family said this artwork was spot on:). Great job, Nevaeh!
